Blog Post #11: Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is extremely important if you want an event or organization to gain any traction in today’s day and age. One of the other classes projects’ that I analyzed used a viral market trend, according to the Wikipedia article. She used a T-shirt that had the logo of the event and organization on it. By doing this, hundreds of people on the street or other events can see the shirt and look up what the T-shirt represents online once they get home, or maybe even immediately with the advent of smart phones.

Mass emails are another effective way to spread the popularity of these types of things. If there is some sort of reward for spreading the email, then it is very likely that it will take off. Advergames are growing greatly, and can be effective when spreading awareness of a new game, for it gives the user a sneak peek to what the game is all about, and it catches the users attention.

Flash games are an interesting way to do viral marketing, but it has been used well in the past. One in particular time I’ve seen it used was for the YouTuber PewDiePie’s channel, where he created a flash game to help popularize himself even more.
